Perhaps ‘the kids’ don’t care about the charts anymore and maybe they choose tracks rather than albums, but to me the long player is still an artform worth celebrating. Whilst the singles chart has been taken over by Sheeran in the last few months, the album chart has been much more entertaining, with one of my favourite albums of 2021, Olivia Rodrigo’s Sour regaining the top spot this week, such a great album.

In more guitary circles, although he is also very skilled in perfect pop tunes, albeit with an alt twist, the brilliant new Jim Bob album Who Do We Hate Today has entered at 34. I highly recommend this, a very human record looking at the world that has been locked up and how we can all reach out to make things a bit brighter. But not in a Bono way.
