Today’s Sonic Central event felt like a Nintendo Direct…A few reveals, then they say goodbye and then…the biggest reveal! That biggest reveal, if we may report everything backwards, is a brand new 3D Sonic The Hedgehog game coming from Sonic Team in 2022.

As well as this, we also had a short interview with Man Of Action who are in charge of the forthcoming Sonic Prime series on Netflix, having previously worked on Ben 10 and Big Hero 6. There is also the Olympics 2020 (?!) game coming next month which will allow you to play in a Sonic skin – presumably this will not allow you to reach super speeds and win all the sprint events, it is just cosmetic, but hell, I’m down for it.

The two most exciting reveals were the return of Sonic Colors, now in an ‘ultimate’ edition, hitting consoles on September 7th and Sonic Origins, a new compilation of Sonic 1,2,3,Sonic And Knuckles and Sonic CD. This is noteworthy because, well it is some of the best gaming ever, but also because Sonic 3 has been absent from past collections due to the Michael Jackson musical connections, which it seems have been fixed now that Origins is a reality.
