Megadeth icon David Ellefson, who appeared on all the early iconic albums and the brilliant comeback records, has been fired from the band following sexual allegations that surfaced recently.

The statement from Dave Mustaine reads : “We are informing our fans that David Ellefson is no longer playing with Megadeth and that we are officially parting ways with him. We do not take this decision lightly. While we do not know every detail of what occurred, with an already strained relationship, what has already been revealed is enough to make working together impossible moving forward.”

Videos of Ellefson recently appeared online and it was alleged that he was talking to an underage fan, but the girl involved gave the following statement when the allegations first sprung up :

It seems strange that following that statement, Ellefson was not supported by the band, but the two Daves have spent decades squabbling so it is perhaps not surprising, although it suggest lesser returns after the classic Dystopia.
