The AEW/Impact ‘invasion’ angle is one of the best recent stories in wrestling. For a start, it has got me watching Impact again, which I have not done much in 2020. Also it is setting up the possibility of some previously impossible dream matches down the line.
I had really hoped that Gallows and Anderson could have gone to AEW so that they could be reunited with Kenny Omega, and now this storyline has made the unthinkable a reality. Omega has appeared on the last couple of episodes of Impact and last night revealed that he will be teaming up with his buddies (known in Impact as The Good Brothers) to take on the world champion Rich Swann and the Motor City Machine Guns.
This makes a PPV that would have passed many of us by something essential, which is exactly what the Callis/Khan connection is for. Also it makes me wonder whether we could see Gallows and Anderson on AEW Dynamite tonight, a show that I never miss but now should see Impact fans tuning in, in the same way that I am drawn to their product. Brilliant.
