Poem : Neither A Kiss Nor A Bullet

What’s in the envelope?
A kiss or a bullet?
Leave it in the corner
Will it rot
Spew maggots from it’s pouch
Or merely lie flat
Just like that
Until your curiosity finally destroys the cat?
Of course,
You know what it is.
It’s a self addressed envelope
That’s your writing on the front.
Neither a kiss nor a bullet.
A love letter to the past
She loves me, she loves me not,
She loves me not.
Of course,
Now there’s noone to open it.
You’ve left this world
Said so long to this plane
And carried over.
Body now just an empty parcel
Like the envelope for your soul
Return to sender
Postage unpaid.
