Poem : Creatures Of The Dark

Behold the colour of the night
Full moon shines in the black
Creatures crawl and predators stalk
The world belongs to them until the sun comes up.
Foxes knock over garbage pails
Searching for treasure to devour
Whilst rats crawl through holes looking for food.
Spiders tumble together through the grass
Devouring whatever gets in the way.
Worms go about their wriggling business
Snails hide under brittle shells
No human feet will crush them tonight.
Bats swoop and soar
Birds fly to freedom.
By the time human eyes creak open,
The outside world will be quiet again
But at this hour
It belongs to the creatures of the dark.
