As fall dies
Winter creeps in like an unwanted guest
Speaking ill of you at your own funeral.
Snow shimmers like crystal across the land
Exhaled breath like a shroud in the air
Frozen faces hidden under woollen masks.
Oven trays swap charred chickens
For cheeky children with chapped lips
Speeding down hills faster than god
Zig-zagging like the drunk drivers they don’t yet know of,
Fearless, weightless.
