She felt the beauty drip like blood
Caressing her soul and blinding her eyes.
She sat thinking only of him
Gliding on emotion’s ocean like a solitary sailboat.

He was somewhere else with the pretty set
High fiving the jocks and talking trash with the cheerleaders
Unaware that elsewhere she bled for him
Carving his name like a Faustian pact.

When she was found on the beach
They said she was blue and they thought she was dead
Then some thought inside must have kickstarted her heart
Her eyes flew open and she screamed out his name.

The doctor in the hospital said with glee
“Your heart was like a hive of electric bees”
She turned to the wall and drifted away
Maybe salvation would arrive some other day.
Maybe he would notice
Maybe he would notice
